DRIVING AWARENESS AROUND WOMEN AND GIRLS’ EMPOWERMENT THROUGH SPORT
The Global Observatory aims to advance
gender equality and the empowerment of
women and girls, in all their diversity, in and
through physical activity, physical education
and sport.
Founded in 2021 and under the auspices of
UNESCO, the Global Observatory coaches,
coordinates and advises governments,
institutions as well as companies and serves
as a knowledge hub to drive change effectively
and efficiently.
THE MISSION
The Global Observatory aims to address the multiple, systemic and intersecting
inequalities faced by women and girls in sport and society
in alignment with the sustainable development goals:
HOW THE Global Observatory DRIVES CHANGE
I. Act as knowledge hub through centralizing existing research
& best practices and develop unified methodologies for monitoring,
evaluation and accountability
II. Coordinate, consult and advise all actors in the design of
action plans to address the systemic gender inequalities in sport
III. Connect and mobilize diverse partners across governments,
development institutions, civil society & communities, private sector
and research institutions
IV. Promote investments in women's and girl's participation in
sport including access to infrastructures and funding
